Our Core Values

As a community of faith, we adopted the following values at our 2022 Annual Meeting:

Faith Development

We are constantly learning and evolving in our life and faith. Our primary commitment as a community of faith is to invite and encourage one another as we attempt to follow in the way of Jesus.

Radical Welcoming

Living side-by-side with others with respect provides hope for the future. The human instinct is to be suspicious and fearful of those who are different, especially when we are anxious in our own lives. Radical welcoming, however, calls us to welcome the stranger into our community. The spiritual practice of radical welcoming provides the foundation for our relationships with each other, with visitors and newcomers, as we attempt to deepen our individual walks of faith.

Wellness

Particularly in these anxious times, a focus on wellness in all areas of life – body, mind and spiritual health is critical for us to develop in our community of faith and in our neighbourhoods. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest… My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30). As a community of faith, we are committed to helping to “lighten the load” of individuals and neighbours (whether they are church members or not).
