Church Council

Riverside United Church Council

The Riverside United Church Council is a group of elected volunteers who work together at the council level and through the various Standing Committees to oversee our church and its congregation. It is the governance structure of the congregation. The volunteers, elected at the Annual General Meeting, are voted into their positions and can serve from two to five years.

The council consists of an executive which includes the Chair, Vice Chair, Past Chair and Secretary.  Chairs (or their designate) of all Standing Committees are also members of the council, as are the President of the UCW, the Minister and a Youth Representative. The Standing (permanent) Committees are Affirm, Christian Development, Exploring Possibilities (More Than Sunday), Finance, Membership, Ministry and Personnel, Outreach (M6:8), Property, Trustees, and the 844 and 10:30 Worship.

Under this umbrella, the various church committees handle such diverse items as rentals, staffing, congregational activities, faith development, expenditures and fundraising, decorating, grounds upkeep, outreach to the community, and worship. Everyone works in unity to ensure Riverside is a safe place to worship and develop as a community as we journey.

Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month, excluding July, August and December. You can contact us through our email address council@riverside.on.ca .
